Some Favorite Videos From The X Prize Contest

I was asked to mention some of my favorites among the videos in the X Prize “My Crazy Green Idea” contest that can be seen on You Tube at www.youtube.com/groups_videos?name=crazygreenidea. One kind of exciting idea discusses a process that appears so possible to implement that I wonder why more people aren’t working with it. Examples are: “Building Topsoil Rapidly,” by justuscarbonfarmers, pg 4, row 2, #1; and “Bamboo X Prize,” by pannellw147, pg 3, row 4, #2. Another attention getter states that a technology to create clean fuel is actually already available. See “The Silver Bullet by Harry Braun,” by P3Chairman, pg 4, row 3, #3. And imaginative flights like “Space Windmill,“ by Bcreatives, pg 1, row 1, #5 can really get you thinking. Then there’s my video. I used a set of homemade finger puppets to tell my story. My idea is to reward the fastest team that would chose a promising green idea, whether their own or by someone they could join with, bring together everything needed to make the idea work, lobby government and industry to quickly create the infrastructure to support that idea, and see it through to the point where it is actually functioning and measurably lowering carbon emissions. I was inspired by the book 50 Simple Things You Can Do To Save The Earth, www.50simplethings.com, that is full of ideas proven on a small scale but waiting for a revolutionary push to bring about large scale use.
